Dive into Discovery: Dominican International School Kaohsiung’s Unforgettable Co-Curriculum Field Trip!

On November 7th, the Dominican International School Kaohsiung (DISK)
embarked on a thrilling co-curriculum field trip that took students beyond
textbooks and into the heart of cultural immersion! This year, our Pre-K,
Kindergarten, and Grades 1 to 5 students journeyed to the Meinong Hakka
Cultural Farm, where vibrant hands-on experiences celebrated Hakka
traditions and fostered creativity and teamwork.

From Baking to Crafting: A Taste of Hakka Culture!
Students engaged in a variety of unforgettable activities—crafting earthen
ovens to bake sweet potatoes, collecting river snails from natural habitats,
and mastering the art of making Hakka Lei Cha and handmade rice noodles.
They dove into traditional crafts, explored local ecology, and even delighted in
preparing mochi, leaving them with smiles and a wealth of knowledge!

An Adventure for Older Students!
But the excitement didn’t end there! On November 7th and 8th, our middle and
high students embarked on a two-day adventure that began at the Tainan Ten Drum
Cultural Village. Here, they marveled at the dynamic transformation of an old sugar
factory into a cultural park, where they not only soaked in history but also
participated in an exhilarating drumming workshop led by the famous Ten Drum Art
Percussion Group! As the sun set, students enjoyed the comforts of the Just Sleep
Hotel before diving into the vibrant atmosphere of the Tainan Flower Night Market,
savoring local delicacies and creating unforgettable memories.

On Day 2, the exploration continued at the Chimei Museum, where they
delved into the history of Western musical instruments and the evolution of
animals, all while enjoying the museum’s serene outdoor spaces.

A Lasting Impact
This co-curriculum field trip was much more than a day out—it was an
incredible blend of education, adventure, and cultural appreciation. Our students
forged new friendships and left with lasting memories that enriched their
understanding of the world.

As we reflect on this remarkable experience, we’re reminded of the power
of experiential learning. At Dominican International School Kaohsiung, we’re
committed to continuing these enriching opportunities that inspire our students
to grow, discover, and thrive! Get ready for the next adventure!
