Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year!
Hi all parents,
We at Dominican International School Kaohsiung sincerely hope that your summer was rewarding and relaxing. DISK faculty and staff worked very hard to prepare the school with new classrooms for our middle/high school and improving the environment throughout the school. With the COVID virus and recent rain it has been a major challenge to all but nothing is impossible to accomplish when everybody works as a team.
As a senior high school preparation program for international studies, DISK has expanded and initiated our program with a grade nine class (to be the first graduating class in four years). Ms. Garcia will oversee the division as well as teach and serve as our PD and WASC Co- Coordinator. Mr. Rossiter will serve as the Curriculum Coordinator for Middle School.
The Lower and Upper Elementary Program at DISK will continue to thrive with a number of the classes nearing capacity. It is always amazing to see just how fast the students grow, learn, and change in these formative years of school.
The Kindergarten Program at DISK is a continuance program that includes Pre-Kindergarten (for 3 and 4 year old students) Kindergarten and coming soon as are plans for the Kiddie After School Activity Program ( Kiddie-ASAP )
Along with the core subjects, we at DISK know how important a well-rounded education is for growing children. This year we would like to thank Campus Ministry for all the service and program with the expanding activities
As we continue the process of WASC (Western Association of School and Colleges) accreditation we have worked hard to ensure that our program and teachers are ready to take the next step. Early in the year we will be visited by our observation team which will give their insight and suggested direction for a complete self-study review of Dominican International School Kaohsiung. Over the coming school year we will be having meetings with many members of the school community to help in our goal of becoming a full WASC Accredited International School.
All are ready for this school year despite the COVID challenges we all are patiently and resiliently trying to cope with these trying times.
- Please remember to give your child/ren their masks with spare in case soiled
- temperature and disinfectant machines are available on the campus for ease of use and access
- 7:45 students can go directly to their classroom School start with morning pray at 8:00 am
- lunchroom will have transparent divider for each student
Parents can rest assured that DISK will carefully implement all government prescribed Covid protocols.
As part of the DISK family, we hope that we can have a strong VIP (Volunteer Involved Parent) program to help.. We would like to invite you to bring your special talents and or interests to school and help our students. Your help will inspire our students’ journey of learning, accompanied by new After School Activity Programs (ASAP) and engaging electives. Look for the new letter introducing the Music/Band program.
Dismissal time for all kindergarten students and students not participating in an afterschool program will be at 3:30. The DISK After School Activities Program (ASAP) will be offered four days of the week (Monday-Thursday). Individual concerns for transportation should be presented to the Administrative office.
The first VIP Meeting will be held on Aug. 16 (Monday) at 3:30 – 4:25 to be facilitated by Mr. Hector Tung as the new VIP Coordinator.
The Parent and Teacher Orientation will be on Saturday, August 21, from 8:45 am to 11:00 am. We will take this time to review the updated Student Handbook and the teachers will present the grade curriculum and class program in their respective classrooms..
For the safety and security of all the students at Dominican International School Kaohsiung, the front gate will be closed at 8:30 a.m. and parents will be required to check in with the gate guard before entering.
