Dominican International School Kaohsiung (DISK), WASC and PD Coordinator, Dr. Joan D. Sandoval, Curriculum Coordinator, Mr. Michael Rossiter, and the Student Activity Coordinator, Ms. Rosa Lee attended the East Asia Regional Council of Schools Leadership Conference 2023 at Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok, Thailand, October 25-28, 2023.
The theme Creating Safe Harbors, clearly resonated with many, as the topics focused on safety in today’s international schools.
This is also about the creation of classroom and school cultures where learning is available to all, where people are to be themselves, and where inquiry and speech are protected. Cultures of learning see assessment as a pathway to support learners, where inclusion and belonging are embraced.
The different sessions attended by Dr. Sandoval provided insights. knowledge and understanding of the different guiding
principles and standards essential for the School Improvement process.Additional insights on how to lead and design equitable and inclusive educational experiences for student learning and the essential self and system reflections for leaders who need to engage in the international school context.
